The Hammerheads is a developmental swim team that offers both a competitive option and a non-competitive option. The Hammerheads Swim Team (the competitive team) competes in the Westchester-Fairfield League and both hosts and travels to dual swim meets throughout the season. Structured practices are designed to refine the four competitive strokes as well as starts and turns. Swimmers strive to increase speed and endurance all while being part of a team that represents the JCC in the conference league.
The Developmental Junior Team (the non-competitive team) does not participate in dual swim meets. Swimmers do benefit from structured practices that are designed to introduce and refine the four competitive strokes, introduce starts and turns, and help swimmers grow endurance.
Benefits for both program formats include: improved stroke and turn techniques, grow endurance while increasing speed and efficiency, allow swimmers to enjoy the social benefits of learning good sportsmanship and fostering team spirit. Swimmers benefit in a boost in self-esteem and confidence.
