Join us for a six-week exploration of international folk dancing! Each class will include a selection of dances from around the world including the Middle East, Europe, Latin America, and the US. Most dances include holding hands in a circle or line, while other dances will be partner dances or freestyle (no hands). The class is geared for beginners but the difficulty of the dances will depend on the experience and comfort of participants.

Experience Laughter Yoga, a unique exercise routine that combines unconditional laughter with yogic breathing. Laughter reaps many scientific benefits including reduction of stress, anxiety, and depression; lower blood pressure; a strengthened immune system; and much more. Laughter is initially stimulated as a physical exercise and soon leads to real and contagious laughter. Bring your playful spirit!
About the presenter: Vinodray R. Shah, MD was a plastic surgeon for 35 years in Massachusetts before retiring to the Rivertowns. He is a certified Laughing Yoga instructor who runs programs at Phelps Hospital, Gilda’s Club, the senior centers in Elmsford, Ardsley, and Ossining. He is a passionate believer that laughter is the best medicine.

West African dance with Gladys Lowe provides a complete body workout while giving students the freedom to express themselves to the powerful beat of live drumming. Each step is broken down so that all students, including those who have never danced before, can learn while having fun. Students will build confidence around their body movements and the lively traditional dance rhythms. About the Instructor: Gladys Lowe is originally from Cameroon and some of her recent experiences include being a program instructor at The Paige Fraser Foundation in the Bronx, Westchester Dance Artists, the Bethany Art Center, Addi-tude Cultural Arts, and other venues in the Hudson Valley.
registerThis series will introduce you to the techniques and skills of flamenco music and dance, and the cultural and historical context of this Spanish art. Each session begins with a full-body warm-up set to lively flamenco music and introduces participants to the basic techniques of this expressive dance: zapateo (footwork), braceo (armwork), and palmas (rhythmic hand-clapping). Classes will be led by A Palo Seco Flamenco Company artistic director (and Tarrytown local) Rebeca Tomas and can be taken individually or in succession. Teens and adults are welcome!

New to line dancing? This class is for you! Join us and Fun Bunch instructor, Steven Dillard. Using an upbeat and fun soundtrack as a backdrop, Steven will break down easy line dances that allow everyone to learn at a comfortable pace. You’ll learn basic steps, rhythms and routines choreographed to music. Not only is line dancing fun, it helps improve your memory, coordination, and balance at the same time. Come for great music and a great time!
