Generation Forward

Teen Volunteer Program

Generation Forward: Teen Volunteerism

Three dates this spring:

  • Sunday, April 16; 1:00–5:00 PM at Shames JCC on the Hudson
  • Sunday, April 30; 1:00–5:00 PM at Community Wardrobe, Tarrytown
  • Saturday, May 6; 1:00–5:00 PM at  Riverkeepers Community Clean-up (location TBA:

Members: $120; Nonmembers: $150

Generation Forward provides teens with a meaningful way to give back to our community. Guided by the Jewish principle of “repair the world”, teens will engage in volunteerism and will learn about the issues involved in our area of focus.

Our inaugural spring session will focus on environmental justice. Upon completion, teens will receive certification of 12 community service hours.

In this session, participants will engage in three weekend projects: creating a community garden at the JCC; volunteering at Community Wardrobe in Tarrytown; and participating in Hudson River clean up. Trained facilitators and guest speakers will lead students in their learning and work. Teens will feel informed, inspired, and empowered to continue to make the world a better place.

*Fee includes curated service opportunities, service learning, and lunch

**Participants must participate in all three sessions in order to receive their 12 certified service hours.
