American Red Cross Babysitting Certification & Internship

Ages 11-16

JCC’s Babysitting Certification & Internship Program*: Red Cross Babysitting Certification (Ages 11–16)

The JCC’s Babysitting Certification & Internship Program is for young people ages 11–16 years old, offering training and mentorship for all levels of babysitting experience. The program begins with a 7 hour American Red Cross training that provides youth planning to babysit with the knowledge and skills necessary to safely and responsibly care for children and infants.

Participants will learn:

  • Leadership skills
  • How to develop a babysitting business
  • How to keep themselves and others safe (including basic child care and basic first aid skills)
  • Strategies for encouraging and maintaining calm and appropriate behaviors when on the job.

Participants who successfully complete this training will earn their American Red Cross Babysitting Certification and will be eligible for serving up to 10 internship hours in the JCC’s Kidspace drop-in childcare center. There they will engage with children ages 6 months to 8, developing their skills and receiving mentorship and feedback from the Kidspace director and staff. Successful interns will receive a letter of reference and may be referred to JCC families looking for trained and certified babysitters.

All upcoming events will be featured below.
