Sharing Sad News….Mickey Carey

|

Dear Shames JCC Community,

It is with profound sadness that we share with you that Shames JCC Operations Manager, Mickey Carey, passed away unexpectedly yesterday. We are devastated by this tragic loss. Mickey was 38 years old and suffered a sudden health issue. There is no indication at this time that his untimely death was related to COVID-19.

The shock of this news is reverberating throughout our community today. Mickey was a valued and beloved member of our JCC family, and a dear friend to so many. The entire community benefited greatly from Mickey’s kind, gentle, calming presence as well as his diligence and commitment to helping each and every person that walked through our doors.

We know that both members and staff who were close with Mickey will lean on one another for support in this time of grief and sorrow. We will also be providing support to the Carey family during this period of mourning and will share with the broader community any additional information we learn in regard to memorial tributes. In the meantime, if you knew Mickey and would like to demonstrate your care to his family, please consider sharing your favorite memory of Mickey with us. We will compile your stories in a tribute book and send it to his family. You can submit your stories to [email protected].

May his memory be a blessing. Please join us in sending love, blessings, and strength to his family and loved ones. He will be missed beyond measure.

In friendship,

Leslie Meyers
Executive Director
