Mah Jongg for Beginners

Curious about Mah Jongg? Join us for a fun and beginner-friendly introduction to this classic game of skill, strategy, and luck. Whether you’ve never played before or just want a refresher, this approachable and engaging class will walk you through the basics so you can feel confident at the table.

Open Play Canasta for Beginners

Tuesdays from 1:00–3:00 pm
FREE for members, $5 for non-members; drop ins welcome

Beginner canasta players are welcome at our weekly event in the Cohen Family Atrium! This group is intended for beginners or those who need to refresh their memory about the game. Note: this is not supervised play. No registration required. 

Bridge Open Play

Wednesdays, 1:00–3:00 pm
FREE for members & non-members

Connect with your fellow bridge enthusiasts in our weekly casual game. Sessions are geared toward beginners who want to improve their skills but are open to all. Looking for a more advanced group? Email cjacobs@shamesjcc.org and let us know! No registration required. 

Open Play Canasta Advanced

Mondays, 1:00–3:00 pm in the Cohen Family Atrium
Members: Free; non-members: $5

Seasoned canasta players are welcome at our weekly event in The Ark at the Shames JCC! This session is intended for intermediate and advanced players who have a command of the rules (if you’re a beginner, email info@shamesjcc.org for options).

Please note that all players will be randomly assigned tables; this means you’ll have an opportunity to play with a variety of people, socialize, and have an enjoyable two hours. We ask that all participants be able to stay for the duration of the time (1:00–3:00 pm) to ensure fair play.

Join us to play Mah Jongg! We provide the space and game sets and you bring your A-game. Or, you bring any games, we provide the space for fun!

NOTE: Participants should have some Mah Jongg experience to attend. No registration is required.
