Family Supportive Services
Step One Consulting helps individuals navigate the complexity of supportive services and mental health systems for children and adults with disabilities and functional limitations.
With Step One, you have the opportunity to discuss your unique predicament one-on-one with Lauren Weinberg, Esq. Lauren is an attorney with 15 years of experience in the field of mental health and disability advocacy. She is also the parent of a child who is autistic and the sibling of an adult with an intellectual disability. Lauren will meet each client with the knowledge, skills, and empathy to help them understand the options in front of them and the necessary steps to take in order to achieve the best outcomes for their loved ones.
JCC members will have up to two complimentary hours to meet with Lauren. During this time, Lauren will hear your concerns, help you identify your goals, and provide actionable steps toward them. Sessions may be broken into two parts if your issues require some research.
Lauren is equipped to guide individuals with topics and questions including:·
- Getting your child evaluated, and accessing services that a child may need upon diagnosis
- The process of applying for OPWDD and what services are available to them
- Understanding the mental health system in NY state and patient rights within it
