With Step One, you have the opportunity to discuss your unique predicament one-on-one with Lauren Weinberg, Esq. Lauren is an attorney with 15 years of experience in the field of mental health and disability advocacy. She is also the parent of a child who is autistic and the sibling of an adult with an intellectual disability. Lauren will meet each client with the knowledge, skills, and empathy to help them understand the options in front of them and the necessary steps to take in order to achieve the best outcomes for their loved ones.
JCC members will have up to two complimentary hours to meet with Lauren. During this time, Lauren will hear your concerns, help you identify your goals, and provide actionable steps toward them. Sessions may be broken into two parts if your issues require some research.

Lauren is a legal consultant who specializes in complex problem-solving and guidance for individuals and families facing challenges rooted in disability, mental health conditions, geriatric needs, and incapacity. She is also Principal Attorney with the Mental Hygiene Legal Service where she represents individuals whose liberty interests are at risk based on an allegation of incapacity and potential risk of harm.

Join other adult siblings of brothers and sisters who have been identified as having disabilities or challenges of all kinds, and who understand the experiences and stressors that often face families like yours. The combined expertise of the facilitators and the siblings’ personal experiences provide support, resources, and connections as we build our SibSpace community together.
This is a closed group where registrants are expected to attend all five sessions. Discussions are kept confidential. Please note that all support groups will take place on Zoom until further notice.
