Job Coach – LIFT Summer Internship Program
LIFT Program Description
Participants are ages 18 and up
The LIFT (Leadership, Internship, Friendship, Transition) Internship program is a full-day program for young adults with disabilities, promoting development of vocational skills and acquisition of valuable work experience. In a structured and nurturing environment, participants will learn social skills and behavioral strategies to support their success in the workplace. In combination with learning these strategies, interns will practice and apply concepts they learn through a hands-on internship. Interns training this year will focus on the three different industries which are: childcare, custodial work, and food services.

M,T, W, TH-9:15am-4:15pm
June 24th- August 2nd, Off for the 4th of July

Pay range
The pay range for the vocational coach position is $2975 – $3500. This stipend covers program dates/hours as noted above, as well as up to 8 hours for pre-program training and post-program debrief and clean up; dates and times for which will be announced in advance. Specific pay will be determined based on skills and experience.
Role Description
The Vocational Coach supports participants in the LIFT summer internship program as they learn and practice vocational skills, work as interns, and engage in other activities at the JCC.
Responsibilities / Requirements
- Assist the Supportive Services Program Manager with facilitation of training and activities, as well as supervision of participants
- Provide oversight, guidance and support to participants during program hours
- Help to create a strong, positive, team-oriented dynamic
- Work alongside participants to support them in carrying out assigned tasks
- Model appropriate and professional behavior and workplace etiquette
- Help the Supportive Services Program Manager identify and assess participants’ job-related strengths and challenges; assist in developing strategies to optimize success
- Provide 1:1 coaching with resume building and job searching
- Attend all program dates, trainings, and meetings
- Ability to stand for up to 90 min at a time.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds for short distances.
- Flexibility to work indoors and outdoors.
Desired Experience/Qualities
- Demonstrated interest in working with the neuro-diverse community; relevant course-work and/or experience strongly preferred
- Team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills: ability to work collaboratively to achieve programmatic goals
- Patience, adaptability and sense of humor
