Director of Youth & Teen Engagement 

Director of Youth & Teen Engagement

 

Summary: The Director of Youth and Teen Engagement will lead the enhancement and expansion of the JCC’s programs and services for school-age children and teens. 

Essential Responsibilities: 

  • Leadership and Management of the JCC’s “Almost Home” and “Club J” After-School Programs
  • Plan and implement outreach to recruit participants and staff; build relationships to create strong pipelines for engagement
  • Onboard, train and supervise program staff; schedule and implement regular staff meetings/communication protocols
  • Ensure that all program activities are engaging, safe, productive and excellent
  • Prepare and coordinate processes and documentation in connection with the JCC’s childcare licenses
  • Manage participant registration, rosters, and schedules; assign and manage staff to meet participant and program needs
  • Serve as primary liaison with parents and families; develop and implement scheduled communication and handle ad hoc communication as needed.
  • Manage and optimize programmatic budget
  • Integrate and coordinate with other JCC staff and departments
  • Strategic Planning and Development of Youth & Teen Programs
  • Design and implement dynamic offerings that attract new participants including special events, service opportunities, holiday programs, etc.
  • Cultivate relationships with local schools to increase understanding of needs and potential collaborations
  • Maintain and enhance relationships with local teen-oriented programs and organizations such as J-Teen, BBYO, etc.
  • Summer Camp
  • Play a leadership role in one or more of the JCC’s summer camps; specific responsibilities may include serving as a Division Head or Head Counselor, leading a Teen Development program, managing trips, or otherwise, subject to annual needs and mutual agreement.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time, exempt position with hours to be aligned with the schedules of associated Youth and Teen Engagement programs. 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary or Early Childhood Education and 5+ years of related experience
  • Supervisory/management experience; ability to oversee staff of varying ages and abilities
  • Excellent interpersonal & communication skills, as well as organizational & record-keeping skills
  • A team player with an outgoing personality and genuine interest in people
