Program Communications and Development Associate

The Program Communications and Development Associate will assist with diverse aspects of the marketing and fundraising efforts at the Shames JCC on the Hudson. This position will perform administrative and supportive duties to contribute to a) driving awareness of and enrollment in programs and special events, b) raising funds for our thriving community center.

Responsibilities

Program marketing and communications (approx 60%)

  • Support clear, consistent, compelling, and timely program communications across digital and print channels. Tasks may include:
  • Drafting written copy and visual content for program and event collateral
  • Maintain website and update content
  • Building out event pages and newsletters
  • Collecting and sizing images and photos for programs
  • Drafting communications to program participants
  • Promoting individual programs on various media sites and calendars
  • Ensure a presence on social to attract members and non-members by
  • Developing and maintaining a content calendar for social media reflective of programs and events, brand objectives, community features, trends, and important days and hooks
  • Drafting social content (approximately 5 pieces/week)

Development (approx 40%)

  • Process donations and ensure timely follow-up by
    • Managing the intake and processing of all donations in database
      Preparing acknowledgement letters and contribution receipts for gifts.
    • Ensuring that data entry is accurate and donation tracking, accounting, and communication systems are efficient
    • Reviews donor acknowledgments for accuracy, special requests and action items that require follow-up
    • Manage donor database and filing system
    • Maintain records, both electronic and physical, ensuring that documents are filed consistently and retrieved easily
    • Ensure the accuracy of donor information and generate reports as appropriate.
    • Proactively seek out ways to enhance our (currently minimal) tracking systems
  • Support board relations, including by:
    • Composing and processing board correspondence; creating and maintaining board files and reports as appropriate; scheduling meetings and conference calls, and taking meeting minutes.
    • Grant tracking: Track and manage grant application and report deadlines. Potential to support preparation of grant proposals and reports, depending on skill set.

Skills and qualifications

  • Impeccable attention to detail a must
  • Experience with computer programs and software including Canva, WordPress, CRM systems
  • Comfort in navigating various databases, systems, logins, etc.
  • Strong writing and grammar skills
  • Background in and strong understanding of social media
  • A keen visual eye with basic knowledge of design principles a plus
  • Quick learner and self-starter

Compensation

$50,000-55,000 with generous benefits, including JCC membership and access to the complete facility, as well as significant discounts for all JCC paid programs
