Do I have to be a member to join Club J?
Yes; a family membership is required to join Club J.

What grades can participate?
For fall 2024 we are accepting students in grades 1-5.

How much does Club J cost and what does it include?
The total cost will depend on how many times the class meets and ranges between $375 and $435 for the fall session. It includes bussing from Tarrytown and Irvington schools, snack, and child care before and after the extracurricular class up to 6 pm.

How do I sign up?
To enroll in Club J, the first step is to choose your preferred extracurricular and follow the directions on the registration process. You will then sign up for Club J on the corresponding day of the week. You can find the registration links here. Subject to availability, Club J enrollment will be confirmed via email after you register. You then will receive paperwork, which must be completed prior to starting the semester.

Do I have to enroll my child in an extracurricular activity to sign up for Club J?
Yes, Club J is only available when signing up for select extracurricular activities.

How do I know which activities are available for Club J?
Classes available for Club J are indicated with an ** on the online schedule.

I only need one hour of childcare. What are my options?
While you are welcome to pick up your child whenever you’d like after their extracurricular, you cannot prorate Club J based on the hours you need.

Can I switch my Club J days? Can I drop in if I need an extra day?
No. Club J registration is for a semester-long basis on the day of your choosing. No switches or drop-ins are allowed.

My child has special needs. Can they still join Club J and extracurriculars?
The Shames JCC is a welcoming, inclusive place that aims to support all children. If your child has special needs, please let us know at the time of registration. JCC staff will then follow up with you, as well as the instructor of the relevant extracurricular, to explore programmatic fit and determine next steps. In the event that the JCC and/or instructor cannot accommodate your child, fees will be refunded in their entirety.

What is your refund policy?
Fees are fully refundable up to August 15. Contact [email protected] for refund and/or schedule change requests. In case of extenuating circumstances, please contact [email protected]; exceptions will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Does Club J run on a day when schools are closed?
Club J does not run when schools are closed.

Does Club J run on routinely scheduled early dismissal days?
Club J will accommodate routinely scheduled early-dismissal days. Specifically, every other Wednesday, students in the Irvington schools are dismissed one hour earlier than usual and Club J will accommodate this schedule.

Does Club J run on occasional half-days (e.g., parent/teacher conference days)?
Yes. Club J runs on ALL half-day parent-teacher conferences and ALL half-day holidays when the children are in school.

If an extracurricular is canceled, will Club J still be available?
Yes. Club J runs through the entirety of the semester; even if the extracurricular is canceled for a reason outside of our control, Club J will run for the full afternoon.

My child is in Almost Home. Can they also participate in extracurriculars?
Of course! Please review our offerings and proceed to enroll your child who is already enrolled in Almost Home in the extracurricular programs that appeal! For children enrolled in Almost Home, fees for extracurricular classes will be discounted between 10% and 15%; depending on the class. Almost Home families will be emailed promo codes to use when registering to receive the discount. And as always, Almost Home staff will escort children between their extracurricular activities and Almost Home.
