We will be holding weekend sessions for preschool swim and parent/child swim lessons.
Our preschool swim classes help children build comfort, confidence and independence in the water at their own pace. New participants too the program will need an evaluation. To schedule an evaluation, please email aquatics@shamesjcc.org.
Red–Orange | Levels 1–2: Introduction to water skills, including floating with support, kicking, splashing, getting comfortable with water on the face, blowing bubbles and beginning independent movement.
Yellow–Blue | Levels 3–5/6: For children ready to swim more independently. Skills include front and back floating, coordinated kicking and arm movements, short-distance swimming, breath control, treading water, front crawl, backstroke, endurance and body control.
Level 1 (6 months–18 months): Helps with comfort in the water with their parent/caregiver. Focuses on water safety, floating, kicking, and blowing bubbles.
Level 2 (18 months–36 months): Continues to build comfort, with children learning basic swimming movements like gliding, kicking with support. Parents help with safety and encouragement.
