Do I have to be a member to join Plus the Bus (formerly Club J)?
No! Anyone in the Tarrytown/Sleepy Hollow or Irvington school districts is welcome to join Plus the Bus. We have separate rates for members (family membership required) and non-members.

Do I have to do an extracurricular activity to join Plus the Bus (formerly Club J)?
Yes. Plus the Bus is an add-on program for children enrolled in extracurricular activities.

What grades can participate?
K–5

What does it include?
Plus the Bus (formerly Club J) includes bussing from Tarrytown and Irvington schools, snack and homework time, and childcare with games, activities, and socialization before and after the child’s class (up to 6 pm).

Does Plus the Bus (formerly Club J) run on early dismissal days?
Yes. Plus the Bus will run on routinely scheduled early-dismissal days (e.g., every other Wednesday for students in the Irvington schools), half-day holidays, and half-day parent-teacher conference days.

How do I know which activities are available for Plus the Bus (formerly Club J)?
Most classes are available for Plus the Bus. The classes that are not are indicated with an ** on the online schedule.

I only need one hour of childcare. What are my options?
While you are welcome to pick up your child whenever you’d like after their extracurricular, you cannot prorate Plus the Bus (formerly Club J) based on the hours you need.

Can I switch my Plus the Bus (formerly Club J) days? Can I drop in if I need an extra day?
No. Plus the Bus registration is for a semester-long basis on the day of your choosing. No switches or drop-ins are allowed.

My child has special needs. Can they still join Plus the Bus (formerly Club J) and extracurriculars?
The Shames JCC is a welcoming, inclusive place that aims to support all children. If your child has special needs, please let us know at the time of registration. JCC staff will then follow up with you to explore programmatic fit and determine next steps. In the event that the JCC and/or instructor cannot accommodate your child, fees will be refunded in their entirety.

What is your refund policy?
Fees are fully refundable before April 1. Contact programs@shamesjcc.org for refund and/or schedule change requests. In case of extenuating circumstances, please contact programs@shamesjcc.org; exceptions will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Does Plus the Bus (formerly Club J) run on a day when schools are closed?
Plus the Bus does not run when schools are closed.

Does Plus the Bus (formerly Club J) run on routinely scheduled early dismissal days?
Plus the Bus will accommodate routinely scheduled early-dismissal days. Specifically, every other Wednesday, students in the Irvington schools are dismissed one hour earlier than usual and Plus the Bus will accommodate this schedule.

Does Plus the Bus (formerly Club J) run on occasional half-days (e.g., parent/teacher conference days)?
Yes. Plus the Bus runs on ALL half-day parent-teacher conferences and ALL half-day holidays when the children are in school.

If an extracurricular is canceled, will Plus the Bus (formerly Club J) still be available?
Yes. Plus the Bus runs through the entirety of the semester; even if the extracurricular class is canceled for a reason outside of our control.
