Women in Art with Suzanne Altman

Long overlooked and underappreciated, women have been a force in art history for centuries. From Renaissance portrait painters to the still life painters of the Dutch Golden Age, to accomplished Impressionists to the many important 20th century women in Surrealism, Abstract Expressionism and Feminist Art, this lecture explores artists both obscure and well known. Names such as Artemisia Gentileschi, Rosa Bonheur, Mary Cassatt, Helen Frankenthaler and Georgia O’Keefe will be shown and discussed in this approximately 60 minute talk.
