Group Outing: Historical Tour of Untermyer Gardens

Friday, October 2 @ 11:30 am - 1:45 pm

$18 for members; $25 for non-members, transportation available!

Join us for a fascinating historical tour of Untermyer Gardens, led by knowledgeable guide (and JCC member!) Helen Wong. We’ll learn about the Untermyer family, their place in early 20th-century history, and the vision behind this extraordinary Indo-Persian garden. As we explore the Gardens, Helen will share stories of the estate’s world-famous heyday, its decline after 1940, and the remarkable restoration efforts that began in 2011 and continue today.

This engaging tour will give us a deeper appreciation for the history, beauty, and ongoing restoration of this magnificent estate. After the tour, we’ll gather for a BYOB picnic lunch to reflect on the experience together.

NOTE: Participants should be able to traverse some stairs and uneven, unpaved terrain. If you would like to come but have mobility issues, please email programs@shamesjcc.org so we can discuss.
