Hello! My name is Carrie Ilisie, and I am the Director of the Early Childhood Center at the JCC on the Hudson. I feel very fortunate to be part of such a warm and welcoming community and to have the opportunity to work closely with our children, families, and teachers.
I have worked in education for more than 25 years. Before joining the JCC on the Hudson, I served as Assistant Director of Children’s All Day School and previously spent many years at Trevor Day School. Throughout my career, I have always valued the relationships that develop among children, teachers, and families and the sense of community those relationships create.
I grew up in Croton-on-Hudson and moved to New York City after graduating from the University of Rochester. I later earned my Master of Science in Special Education from Bank Street College of Education. After many years of living and raising my family in New York City, my husband, daughter, and I recently returned to Westchester. It is especially meaningful to be back in the area where I grew up.
As both an educator and a parent, I understand the trust families place in us when they bring their children to school each day. I believe children thrive when they feel known, cared for, and comfortable at school, and when families feel welcomed and connected. Building those relationships and creating a strong sense of belonging are very important to me.
