J Sports Academy – Day Camp Health Director (EMT/Medical Staff)

J Sports Academy is the Sports Day Camp of the Shames JCC on the Hudson, a non-sectarian community center providing meaningful experiences for individuals and families throughout their lives. Through a multi-sport and high-performance model, J Sports Academy offers engaging, skill-based programming that emphasizes teamwork, leadership, confidence, and a lifelong love of sport. Role Overview:
We are seeking a qualified and experienced medical professional to join our Summer 2026 team as our Camp Health Director. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the health and safety of all campers and staff, managing the camp health office, and ensuring all medical protocols and state requirements are followed. The Camp Health Director plays a critical role in maintaining a safe camp environment by providing care for illness and injury, administering medications, and communicating with families and staff. If you are organized, responsive, and passionate about working with children in an active camp setting, we’d love to have you on our team!

 

Timeline/Required Dates:

·         June 1st – June 27th: Approximately 30–35 hours of pre-camp preparation (flexible scheduling; includes Health Office setup and required orientation)

·         June 21st and June 27th: Staff Orientation (dates subject to change)

·         June 25th: Parent Orientation

·         June 29th – August 14th: Camp in Session Monday–Friday: 8:15am–4:15pm

 

Duties and Responsibilities

·         Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all campers and staff

·         Follow all medical guidelines in coordination with Camp Directors

·         Organize and maintain the Camp Health Office, including supplies, first aid inventory, and documentation

·         Maintain all camper health records, medical forms, and insurance information

·         Accept, store, and administer all prescription and over-the-counter medications as prescribed

·         Provide first aid and care for injuries and illnesses including cuts, scrapes, bruises, bee stings, dehydration, and sunburn

·         Respond to medical needs and emergencies across all areas of camp

·         Maintain a daily log of all Health Office visits and treatments

·         Communicate with parents and staff regarding camper health concerns and incidents

·         Monitor and manage communicable illnesses in accordance with health guidelines

·         Ensure the Health Office is clean, organized, and sanitized regularly

·         Comply with all state and local health regulations and enforce camp health policies and procedures

·         Support overall camp operations as needed

 

Requirements

·         Licensed EMT, Paramedic, LPN, or RN

·         Current CPR and First Aid certifications

·         Experience working with children in a camp, school, or similar setting

·         Ability to safely manage, store, and administer medications

·         Strong communication skills (oral and written)

·         Strong organizational and record-keeping skills

·         Ability to respond calmly and effectively in emergency situations

·         Professionalism, dependability, adaptability, and strong attention to detail

·         Bilingual is a plus

Salary Range: $6,500 – $7,500
