“FWD” is brought to the Shames JCC by FWD Gifted Services and its owner/director, Lauren Callaway.

FWD is an after school program for gifted children in grades K-5 focusing on social and emotional development through academic enrichment.  Once a week participants engage in exciting hands-on projects and enjoy the opportunity to be around like-minded peers. Activities may include creating hydraulic systems, making comic books, code-breaking, Japanese floating ink art, STEM challenges, musical-chair storytelling, rollercoaster building, and more! Our goal is to help gifted children work on common issues such as perfectionism, frustration, perseverance, fine motor skills, failure, and teamwork through in-depth activities.   After the weekly project we help the kids get their homework done.  Children may arrive any time from 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM when the project starts, and homework time begins after the project at 5:00 PM.
