Aquatics Group Exercise Classes

The Shames JCC offers a variety of Aqua Group Exercise classes during the week. These classes are included with an All-Inclusive Membership. The current schedule and reservation links can be found on the Group Ex schedule. For instructions on how to make a reservation, please click here.

Below is a description of the classes we offer:

Aqua Arthritis uses water walking and Arthritis Foundation exercises to move all major joints and facilitate activities of daily living. Improve balance, strength, and endurance while having fun in our 89-degree Training Pool. 45-minute, slower pace class. Space limited to 15 participants.

Aqua Aerobics develops your coordination, muscular strength, and cardiovascular endurance through the use of noodles, dumbbells, and other aquatic fitness equipment. Working against shallow water currents will constantly challenge the core muscles, leading to improvements in balance as well. 45-minute classes. This faster pace, 45-minute class is held in our 83-degree Program Pool. Space limited to 20 participants.

Aqua H.A.T. targets your core while focusing on training the abdominal and lower back muscles. By using the legs in multi-dimensional movement patterns, you will develop a stronger midsection to stabilize your torso and improve your balance and posture. This med-pace, 45-minute class takes place in our 83-degree Program Pool. Space limited to 20 participants.

Self-led Aquatic Exercise

Open to All Shames JCC Members, Ages 13+
Come enjoy the warm water as you take conduct self-led aquatic exercises in our Training Pool! The resistance of the water helps strengthens and tones muscles and affects more of the body when exercising if the water is chest-deep. Aquatic workouts help to increase energy, endurance, and healthy living while reducing stress, tension, and anxiety. BYO towel
