Please check our website from time to time for other social action opportunities.

3,000 Volunteers. 20 Partners. 1 Day.

Monday, January 21, 2019
10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Shames JCC Gymnasium

On Monday, January 21, 2019, thousands of New Yorkers will join in a region-wide day of service in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Volunteers will give back in meaningful ways – packing meals, revitalizing community spaces, engaging in social advocacy, and much more.

Over 250 volunteers at the Shames JCC—adults, teens, and children— will come together to package 600 emergency kits, known as BLIZZARD BOXES, which will be given to local senior centers and food pantries. Knitters and crocheters are also invited to make blankets for the teens in residence at The Jewish Board, Hawthorne Campus.

Donations Needed

Please consider donating flashlights and batteries to distribute along with the Blizzard Boxes. Collection boxes are currently in the lobbies at the Shames JCC. You can also bring your donation with you on the 21st.
