Pool Rules

Patrons refusing to obey rules and regulations will be asked to leave.

  • Participants will not enter the pool until a lifeguard is on duty.
  • All swimmers must take showers before entering the pool in order to comply with the State Health Code.
  • Patrons need to be free of communicable disease and open wounds to prevent contamination of the pool water.
  • Patrons under 18 must pass a deep water swimming test prior to swimming in deep ends of the pool.
  • An adult must be within arms length in the pool with any child under 5 years. (1:1 adult to child ratio)
  • Children under the age of 13 must be supervised in the pool area by an adult (18+).
  • 25 swimmers max per lifeguard.
  • Aquatic staff has the authority to enforce all rules and regulations.
  • Urinating, discharge of fecal matter, and/or nose blowing prohibited.
  • No running on the pool decks.
  • Horseplay is not allowed.
  • No sitting, hanging, or crawling on or over depth divider and lane lines.
  • Feet first, forward facing jumping permitted. No diving or flipping.
  • Use of starting blocks is prohibited except for competitive swimming or instructional training.
  • Extended underwater breath holding and hyperventilation can lead to drowning and is not permitted.
  • Respect will be shown to all participants, patrons, staff, and volunteers.
  • Respect will be shown for all equipment, supplies, and facilities.
  • The use of inappropriate, abusive, or foul language is not permitted.
  • Continuous disruptive behavior is not permitted.
  • Directions from staff and volunteers will be followed at all times.
  • Aquatic staff has the authority to enforce all rules and regulations.
  • All swimmers over the age of 3 years old must wear a swim cap.
  • Proper swim wear is required. Cut-offs, gym trunks, underwear, and denim are not permitted.
  • Aquatic staff has the authority to determine what is considered appropriate.
Personal Belongings
  • All personal items should be kept secure in the locker-room.  JCC staff is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
  • Aquatic staff has the authority to limit or confiscate and/or discontinue use of the following items at their discretion:
  • Water wings or other inflatable devices for non-swimmers are not permitted. USCG approved flotation devices are permitted.
  • Soft foam toys are permitted in the pool during open swim with aquatic staff approval.
  • No food or drinks on pool deck.
  • No glass containers permitted on pool deck.
  • Street shoes and strollers are not permitted on the pool deck.
