Personal Product Pouches for Purim

Help provide personal products for neighbors in need

Personal Product Pouches for Purim

Join us in collaboration with the Rivertowns Jewish Consortium to fill pouches with personal care products and distribute to those in need. Pick up kits which will include: a pouch, a list of care products for those in need, a card for the recipients for you to color, and educational material.

Then use Zoom and/or Facebook live to join Rabbi Ben Newman and others for a community event on February 28; 2:00 PM

The event will include music, stories, a fun quiz game, and an opportunity to pack and decorate our pouches together. Pouches will be returned to the same location you picked them up and will be distributed to the following organizations: The Coachman Family Center (White Plains), The Oasis Shelter (New Rochelle), and Midnight Run (Dobbs Ferry).

How to Participate

Step 1: Register to make a Personal Product Pouch for neighbors in need at https://bit.ly/2OkRhvh. All registered participants will receive a zoom link to join the packing event.

Step 2: Pick up an empty pouch with a suggested supplies list inside (example items include a pair of socks, tissues, lip balm, toothpaste) from your the Shames JCC (or as directed by the Rivertowns Jewish Consortium partner) starting on Monday, February 22 (last day for pouch pickup: Friday, February 26th)

Step 3: Purchase at least 10 new & packaged items from the suggested supplies list and put them inside the pouch. Feel free to color the provided Purim picture and include it inside the pouch as well.

Step 4: Join us on Sunday, February 28 at 2:00 PM on Zoom for a community gathering to pack your pouch, enjoy music, games, and learn about Purim’s connection to tikkun olam (Zoom link will be emailed to registered participants).

Step 5: Drop off your pouch at the same location you picked it up any time through Friday, March 7th
