Local Earth Day Volunteer Opportunities
Looking for a meaningful way to give back to your community this Earth Day? There are a number of local organizations planning opportunities for all ages to help care for our environment during the weekend of April 22 and beyond.
Clean-Up Activities in Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow:
- Sign up here to join the Tarrytown Environmental Advisory Council for a village-wide clean-up and/or pollinator garden clean-up
- Sign up here for the annual Sleepy Hollow Environmental Advisory Council’s clean-up event to pick up litter and beautify the village streets. Or show up at Peabody Preserve at 10 am to help clear the preserve’s wonderful trails for all who benefit from them—bring a shovel or gloves if you have them!
Pitch in for Parks: Join the Westchester Parks Foundation and the Westchester County Parks Department at the Bronx River Reservation. Paint, rake, prepare, and plant flower beds, clear trails and shorelines, restore wildlife habitats, remove invasive vines, and more! Sign up here.
Care for Green Chimneys Farm: Green Chimneys School has animals and gardens that help students with special needs make connections, build skills, and grow as individuals. Come care for the animals in the main barns, on the farm, or in the gardens through activities for all ages, including cleaning stalls, preparing garden beds, and feeding animals. Sign up through Volunteer New York here.
