HELP AFGHAN REFUGEES IN THE TRI-STATE AREA

Thousands of Afghani refugees are arriving at the Joint Base McGuire Dix Springhurst with very few belongings—not much more than the clothes on their backs. Please join us in welcoming the stranger and helping them get what they need.

Shames JCC on the Hudson is partnering with Upwardly Global, Westchester Jewish Coalition for Immigration (WJCI), UJA-Federation of NY, JCC Mid-Westchester, AFYA, and nearly 30 congregations in and around Westchester to help the thousands of refugees arriving in NJ.

We will be collecting desperately needed supplies on designated days and times at the Shames JCC.

 Supplies Needed:

Men’s/Women’s/Children’s shoes, infant strollers, winter coats (all ages & sizes), children’s backpacks, and women’s handbags (with long strap), razors, and bottles of shampoo.

Items must be new or gently used.

If you don’t have any items for donation, you may also purchase items from an Amazon Wish List at: shamesjcc.org/list.

Drop-off days at the Shames JCC:

Friday, October 8; 5:15 am – 6:00 pm
Sunday, October 10; 7:00 am – 3:00 pm

There will be a collection bin in front of our building at the Main Entrance on these days. If you cannot drop-off at these designated times, please see this list of other drop-off locations to find a more convenient time for you.
