DESCRIPTION:Join us for freshly made baked goods such as hamantaschen! Birdie’s Batch is a mother-daughter duo making classic baked goods and preserves from local ingredients. It was formed in June 2020 after what seemed like endless months of baking to combat COVID stress (and quarantine!). The team thought if their families found comfort in their old-fashioned treats like ginger snaps\, coffee cake\, pumpkin bread\, and mega chocolate chip cookies\, perhaps others in their community would too. \nBirdie’s Batch was formed to whip up batches of homemade goodness to share with the community. One of their specialties is seasonal jams made with just-picked produce that gets processed within 48 hours to make sure the essence of the fruit (and season!) is captured in the jar. We hope when you take a bite of our treats\, you not only get a sense of delight but a sense of home too.

In this workshop\, we will discuss strategies to set your child up for success\, including: \n-Healthy sleep habits for your child\n-Age appropriate bedtime routines\n-Developmentally appropriate ways to communicate the importance of sleep to your child\n-Calming ways to address nighttime fears\n-Balancing multiple kids bedtime routines \nEach participating family will also receive a 15 minute call with Angie to discuss your unique child’s sleep at no additional cost (to be used within 1 month from the date of the workshop). \nZoom link will be sent out the day before the workshop. \nAngie Rothing\, founder of Parent with Pride\, is a Certified Infant and Child Sleep Consultant with the Family Sleep Institute and holds a BA in Psychology from Ramapo College. DESCRIPTION:Screening of “Dinking AcrossFaith” and open play\nJoin us for a hybrid Pickleball and film experience with Rabbi Golan Ben-Chorin from Israel! We’ll start with a screening of his documentary short\, “Dinking Across Faith\,” which tells the story of Muslim\, Christian\, and Jewish Pickleball novices in Haifa who share a love for the game and the desire to create a shared society. \nThis group of religious and secular women and men from various orientations and worldviews examine the value of shared leisure time on the court together. The establishment of the group earned film director Rabbi Golan Ben-Chorin the honor of being the first rabbi to appear in Sports Illustrated. \nAfter watching the film\, Rabbi Golan will lead a discussion and Q&A; then we’ll move onto the courts to play some casual Pickleball (participants should bring their own paddles). \nAbout the Presenter:\nRabbi Golan Ben-Chorin Ed.D.\, is a third-generation Israeli Reform rabbi who has designed courses\, seminars\, and adult education modules for universities\, rabbinic seminaries\, and synagogues; established innovative spiritual communities; and has taught on five continents. Based in Haifa\, Israel\, he applies for his doctoral work on pluralism both within Judaism and in the interfaith arena. He is the co-founder of Finding North. journeys of discovery and inspiration for people 55 and better.\nHe also produces documentaries that offer gateways into Jewish life.

DESCRIPTION:On January 24\, 2023\, the New York legislature passed the Equal Rights Amendment (“ERA”);New Yorkers will vote on its ratification on the November 2024 ballot. The NYS ERA would prohibit discrimination based on a person’s ethnicity\, national origin\, age\, disability\, and sex — including their sexual orientation\, gender identity\, gender expression\, pregnancy\, and pregnancy outcomes. We will discuss the current equal rights protections under our state constitution\, the gaps that a NYS ERA will fill –including preserving reproductive rights for New Yorkers– and the hundred-year history of the fight for a federal ERA. \nAbout the Presenter:\nJuliet Gobler is an attorney and social activist with a demonstrated passion to end gender discrimination. She proudly served as the President of the National Organization for Women’s Suffolk County Chapter for three terms. Juliet is the principal of The Law Office of Juliet Gobler in White Plains\, New York. She earned her Bachelor of Arts from Stony Brook University in Women’s and Gender Studies\, with a focus on Gender and Social Change\, and her Juris Doctorate from Hofstra University School of Law.

DESCRIPTION:Join us to purchase a great selection of children’s books curated from the local bookshop Sleepy Hollow Bookshop. \nAbout the Founder \nAfter 15 years of living in Sleepy Hollow and listening to residents’ desire for a local place to buy children’s books and a place to gather\, Leah Bloom decided to combine both ideas in the Sleepy Hollow Bookshop. It has been a longtime dream of hers to run a shop that centers on community and connects children and teens with reading. Previously\, Leah worked for 10 years as a librarian at SUNY Purchase. Before attending graduate school to become a librarian\, Leah worked in the business world as an environmental consultant. Leah and her husband Doug moved to Sleepy Hollow in 2006 after attending a wedding locally and deciding this was the place to be. They still live in Sleepy Hollow\, now with their two boys and one somewhat sneaky dog\, Kona. You can find the boys’ (and their friends’) favorite books highlighted in the store. Leah and Doug now believe even more that Sleepy Hollow is the place to be\, especially the awesome Bookshop at 95 Beekman Ave.

Her grandmothers on both sides (Israeli\, French) were gifted at feeding their families and gave her a love of home-cooking and a passion for the only freshest seafood. With sustainability as a longtime driving force in work and life\, she wanted to help bring responsible seafood to the area.

David will circulate readings in advance and lead an interactive conversation on the changes to the US-led “liberal democratic order” that prevailed after WWII until the early 2000s. \nThis US-led world order upheld democracy and brought rapid economic globalization\, helping billions of people around the world become wealthier\, healthier\, and better educated–but it also left many working-class people behind. A series of crises have also eroded US credibility and clout in the world over the last 15 years. Can the US lead the world order again and if not– who will? \nAbout the facilitator: David Cheney is an international economics writer\, instructor\, and trainer for international and educational institutions. He has held a variety of positions at the International Monetary Fund. He has provided communications and writing support for a number of multilateral institutions including the World Bank\, Inter-American Development Bank\, and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank. David has served as an adjunct professor of Global Economics and Writing at NYU and currently runs two foreign affairs discussion groups at the Manhattan JCC and Scarsdale Adult School.

Tori Cronk\, yoga instructor and Chryssa Tsakiris\, acupuncturist will guide you through a gentle yoga flow and into a restorative practice. We’ll be adding harmonious\, stress-relieving ear acupuncture seeds\, with two optional calm-inducing acupuncture points on the head. No prior yoga experience is required. This offering is intended for all levels and all bodies\, including the pregnant body. \nTori lives in Tarrytown and has been teaching yoga and facilitating women’s circles for the past 7 years. Tori combines her background in mental health and yoga and meditation that allows her to facilitate an experience where people feel seen and heard. \nChryssa is the owner and lead acupuncturist at Well Collab in Sleepy Hollow with a dedication to adolescent health\, fertility\, and women’s health. She has a special interest in anti-patriarchy and intersectional feminist health work.

DESCRIPTION:To celebrate Women’s History Month\, Dana will be telling us about what inspired her to rescue women’s speeches from obscurity. She’ll share a few stories about historic women speakers you may not have heard of — from right in our backyard. And she’ll explain why it’s so important that we shift our understanding of who spoke out in history to include women. She makes a powerful case that unless you know the history of women’s speech\, you don’t really know American history — and that all our public voices are needed to create the world we want to live in. \nDana Rubin is a consultant\, speechwriter\, and speaker who’s on a mission to encourage more women to put their views into the public square. She created the Speaking While Female Speech Bank to broaden our understanding of the role of women orators in history. It’s the world’s largest online archive of women’s speeches from around the world and across time\, free for anyone to use. She’s also about to publish a women’s speech anthology\, “Speaking While Female: 75 Extraordinary Speeches by American Women\,” which tells the story of America through the voices of women\, from 1637-2021. Dana is a speaker and a public speaking coach\, and she leads workshops that support women to be thought leaders\, subject matter experts\, brand ambassadors\, and role models for future generations of women and girls.

DESCRIPTION:Project Genesis: An Interfaith Conversation Between Two Clergy\nTwo clergies from different faiths will analyze and discuss different interpretations of the books of Genesis. \nRabbi Jay Stein and Reverend Gareth Evans will discuss the story of Jacob and the birthright. When parents pick a favorite child\, the impact is felt for many generations. In this session\, we will unpack the biblical dysfunctional family of Isaac\, Esau\, Rebecca\, and Jacob. Together we will explore what our two faiths have to say about complicated family dynamics. \nAbout Project Genesis: The same story can have multiple meanings. The books of the Old Testament in particular are ripe with symbol\, metaphor\, and character\, providing the reader with the opportunity to unpack and analyze the meanings. In Project Genesis\, we will discuss different interpretations of some of the beloved stories we learned as children and now revisit as adults.
