DESCRIPTION:Following our successful inaugural community art show\, the JCC is calling for proposals to curate one wall in our “4 Wall” exhibition. There are four large (approximately 18′) walls in the exhibition\, and each artist will get one to use for their work in the manner they choose. \nThe walls are located across from our gymnasium\, where you can find the majority of the current exhibition\, and are mostly lit by fluorescent lights. \nWe will be prioritizing work from JCC members and local artists. We will also make selections based on how each artist’s work compliments the others. There is no specific theme and anything goes! \nPlease submit 3 sample works that exemplify your general artistic style and how see using the space. \nSubmission Guidelines:\n2D work only (work will be hanging on a wall).\nAll work must be ready to hang.\nPlease plan to self-install but we will offer support.\nJCC suggests a 20% commission from any sales as a tax-deductible donation.\nTimeline: \nSubmissions close September 20.\nNotification by Oct 1\nInstallation TBD\, mid-October\nExhibition will run through January \nSUBMIT YOUR WORK

DESCRIPTION:The Shames JCC on the Hudson\, in conjunction with Marinelli’s Village Pharmacy\, is hosting a flu and updated (bivalent) Covid 19 vaccine booster clinic on Sunday October 2nd\, from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm. \nFlu vaccines are available for anyone age 5 and up. Covid 19 boosters are available for those age 12 and up. Please select a time slot below to sign up. \nPlease specify what type of vaccine you would like (be aware of age restrictions). You may receive both the flu and Covid vaccine at the same time if desired. \nPlease make sure to bring your insurance card and your Covid 19 Vaccine card to your appointment. You will also need to fill out some forms ahead of time. We will email those forms to you prior to the appointments. \n

DESCRIPTION:Baseball has been embedded in the American culture since the end of the Civil War. There have been poems\, songs\, comedy routines\, movies\, TV shows\, books with baseball themes. Baseball cards also were a big part of the culture. Casey At the Bat was required reading for elementary school students at one point. Abbott and Costello’s Who’s On First routine debuted on radio and led them to the Hall of Fame. The name Cooperstown means something special. And even Broadway got into the act with a play. Nobody ever wanted to be “Wally Pipped”. Even today business analytics may have evolved from Money Ball. Baseball was once the king of American sports\, that may have ended but baseball in the culture has never gone away. \n  \nRegistration to come later

Our second trip will be to Sambal Thai and Malay\, an award-winning restaurant with gorgeous views of the Hudson River in Irvington\, NY. \nYou’ll dine on a multi-course family-style meal that includes appetizers\, mains\, and dessert all for $35 (tax and gratuity included). Weather permitting\, we will be seated outside on their deck. \nVegetarians and other dietary restrictions can be accommodated. Bring a friend or come make new ones!
