Come join a friendly monster guide as it demonstrates all the different ways of being a mensch\, whether you have three heads–or just one. Then stay and practice to be a mensch yourself! \nAbout the Author: \nLeslie Kimmelman is the author of more than 50 books for children\, including a large number with Jewish topics. Her books have won many national and state awards\, and five of her books have been recognized by the Sydney Taylor committee\, which presents annual awards for outstanding children’s books that authentically portray the Jewish experience. DESCRIPTION:At age 67\, Robin Dellabough was surprised to learn through 23andMe that her biological father was not the man who raised her and that she’s 50% Ashkenazi Jewish. Her new book of poetry\, Double Helix\, explores the fallout from that discovery and the process of reconciliation with her mother and both fathers\, all of whom are deceased. Her poems have appeared in Stoneboat\, Fifth Estate\, Lines + Stars\, Halfway Down the Stairs\, The Gentian Journal\, Tiny Spoon\, Maryland Poetry Review\, Blue Unicorn\, Westchester Review\, and other publications and anthologies. SUMMARY:Applications Due for 4Walls Art Exhibition!
DESCRIPTION:Following our successful inaugural community art show\, the JCC is calling for proposals to curate one wall in our “4 Wall” exhibition. There are four large (approximately 18′) walls in the exhibition\, and each artist will get one to use for their work in the manner they choose. \nThe walls are located across from our gymnasium\, where you can find the majority of the current exhibition\, and are mostly lit by fluorescent lights. \nWe will be prioritizing work from JCC members and local artists. We will also make selections based on how each artist’s work compliments the others. There is no specific theme and anything goes! \nPlease submit 3 sample works that exemplify your general artistic style and how see using the space. \nSubmission Guidelines:\n2D work only (work will be hanging on a wall).\nAll work must be ready to hang.\nPlease plan to self-install but we will offer support.\nJCC suggests a 20% commission from any sales as a tax-deductible donation.\nTimeline: \nSubmissions close September 20.\nNotification by Oct 1\nInstallation TBD\, mid-October\nExhibition will run through January \nSUBMIT YOUR WORK
