Poetry Reading with Special Guest Natalie Safir

A popular monthly reading of original poetry by local authors, as well as tributes to established poets.

Moderated by published author and poet, George Kraus, Ph.D.

NATALIE SAFIR has been publishing poems in literary journals since the 1980s and “Matisse’s Dance” has been anthologized in college texts by The McGraw Hill Company and in Art & Artists, Everyman edition, Knopf. 2012. She also appeared in “The Codhill Press collection: A Certain Slant of Light –Women Writers of the Hudson Valley” and wrote prose for Persimmon Tree. Her books published are Moving into Seasons, 1981, To Face the Inscription, 1987, La Jolla Poets Press; Made Visible in 1998, Singular Speech Press; A Clear Burning, 2004. Her collection: Love like Snow, 2010 was a special edition of Fithian Press, and the latest collection: Eyewitness, Dos Madres Press, 2016. A poem from Eyewitness has been read by Garrison Keillor on The Writer’s Almanac. In her long career in poetry she has been an editor, lecturer, and workshop leader and directed a long-running reading series in Hastings-on-Hudson.

GEORGE KRAUS‘ work in poetry has been collected in a chapbook, “Rendition,” published by the Toadlily press, included in the quartet series entitled “An Uncommon Accord,” with a forward supplied by Lia Purpura. His work has also appeared in the Toadlily Press Anthology Of Poetry, The Westchester Review, Dove Tales, The Balanced Rock Review, among others.
