Renard Lecture: Rodgers and Hart: Their Work and Lives

The partnership between composer Richard Rodgers and the lyricist Lorenz Hart produced 28 stage musicals and more than 500 songs. Their songs Blue Moon, My Funny Valentine, Falling in Love with Love, Here In My Arms, My Heart Stood Still, Ten Cents a Dance and Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered are just a few of their enduring classics. This discussion will include their biographies’ and how that influenced their work. Video excepts will accompany the lecture.

Edith Glass, of Chappaqua, was accepted into the School of American Ballet at seven, when she was chosen by George Balanchine to appear in his ballet “The Wanderer.” Later, she studied with the renowned choreographer Anthony Tudor. She appeared in several musical productions after receiving her Chorus Equity membership card when she was 15. She is an Adjunct Professor at Westchester Community College.
