SUMMARY:Foreign Affairs Discussion Group: Trade at a Turning Point
DESCRIPTION:FREE for members | $10 for non-members \nThe postwar system of relatively free world trade was advanced by the US and global trade deals. From 1990 to around 2008\, trade accelerated and fueled rapid economic growth and prosperity around the world\, lifting millions out of poverty. But by 2018\, trade policy reversed and many countries began imposing tariffs. This has led to new patterns of trade and politicization of trade policy. Join us to discuss the implications for the US and the rest of the world. \nAbout the Facilitator: David Cheney is an international economics writer\, instructor\, and trainer for international and educational institutions. He has held a variety of positions at the International Monetary Fund and has provided communications and writing support for a number of multilateral institutions including the World Bank\, Inter-American Development Bank and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank
