The Butterfly Project: Join ENGAGE and Commemorate Kristallnacht

The Butterfly Project at the Shames JCC on the Hudson

To commemorate Kristallnacht (The “Night of Broken Glass”) you are invited to our Engage JCC sites to paint a butterfly in memory of a child who perished in the Holocaust.

The Butterfly Project is a call to action through the arts, using the lessons of the Holocaust to recall the dangers of hatred and bigotry through the painting of ceramic butterflies. Handmade ceramic butterflies are counted collectively to reach the goal of 1.5 million butterflies displayed around the world, a global memorial symbolizing renewed life.

To participate at the Shames JCC, RSVP to Melissa Baer (mbaer@shamesjcc.org).
