4-Part Lecture Series: Golden Age of Opera

Golden Age of Opera with Irwin Elkins

The mid-to-late 19th century was a “golden age” of opera. Explore the stories of the operas and the lives of the composers who wrote them such as Verdi, Puccini, Rossini, and more. Hear the singers Enrico Caruso and Maria Callas from the many recordings Elkins has collected over the years. Get a behind-the-scenes look at the Metropolitan Opera where Elkins was a standee for many years.

Dr. Irwin Elkins is a musicologist with an extensive collection of opera recordings. He teaches courses in opera appreciation and is a lifelong opera buff. He created, and manages, the Omega Opera Archive website.
