Camp Twelve Trails Inclusive: For Ages 5 – 15+

Steve Fondacaro, Director

A uniquely inclusive program for children with mild-to-moderate developmental and autism spectrum disorders. Along with their typical peers, children enjoy the neighborhoods they’ve chosen to visit each week of the summer*.

Trained, enhanced staffing (2:1 camper/staff ratio) makes it all possible. For campers able to function well with less support, we offer 5:1 staffing and a different level of inclusion, targeting specific issues.  Intake meeting is required.

*K-2 campers travel together as a group throughout the summer, visiting all the neighborhoods for a taste of everything and an all-around experience.

Alternative Camp Experiences

Twelve Trails Teen Adventure, Grades 7-10

Teens take their camping experience to the next level! Teen Adventure will travel 3 days a week on exciting day or overnight trips. Imagine the fun they will have white water rafting, working with farmers on farm-to-table projects learning tricks of the trade from successful athletes and actors, or traveling to fascinating destinations! Last year’s trips included iFly indoor skydiving, Lake Compounce, and the Broadway show Wicked!  Onsite at the campgrounds, teens will delve into projects of their choice in the various Neighborhoods.

Inclusive Teens, Grades 7-10

Teens travel on Teen Adventure day trips three times per week and plan their own (non-inclusive) activities for the two days they’ll be on the campgrounds.  Three overnights are included.

Counselor-in-Training*, Grade 11

Leadership development is an important component of the teen experience at Camp Twelve Trails.  Teens will participate in community service initiatives, modeling for other campers the impact they can have on the environment and the world around them. Through workshops and first-hand experiences under the guidance and support of professional camp staff, they’ll receive powerful training and valuable tools.  Camp Twelve Trails will help its CITs develop the confidence and skills they will use for a lifetime, in an atmosphere that both supports and challenges them, and that understands the power of the peer network experience.

*Future Twelve Trails employment is not guaranteed.

Inclusive Leaders-in-Training, Ages 14-21

Young adults have the opportunity to develop the leadership skills necessary to becoming a professional counselor and role model for other campers.   Our Leaders in Training are supported by professional camp staff in their responsibilities to provide campers with enriching and long lasting experiences.  Camp Twelve Trails will help L.I.T.s develop the confidence and skills they’ll use for a lifetime!

Applications will be accepted on a limited basis.
